Another year already? Time again for the annual Halloween Run. A nice A-site near the Chinese graveyard. The circle was called and the new shoes brought in; funnily all ladies, who were assisted by their patrons who probably bought them as Halloween presents. Run assistants called in (poster girls for Which? (Witch?) magazine) the lovely Honey Bunny, Kosovo Cutie & Miss Chivas all dressed as witches to set the mood.
We all set off on a relatively dry and flat course. The countryside was varied and interesting with some good runs on tracks mixed with some choppy bits through cover. Combined with some clever checks this kept the pack well collected. Well laid paper kept everyone on the move. In my opinion a well set run. The front runners back in about 45 minutes with stragglers all back within an hour-and-a-half. I returned to the A-Site to settle down for an evening of heavy drinking (what’s new?) when the GM asked me to scribe. I carefully explained my important duties as Beer Policeman precluded me from undertaking this important job. He kindly informed me that this didn’t present a problem since I had been given the sack. Some bullshit about poor attendance, bad work habits, drunk on the job, too friendly to the customers, etc. You know all the stuff the boss tells you as he’s kicking your ass out the door. So now I had a real problem, lost my job, got a new one but too drunk to take notes, I know it’s going to be the sack again next week. Anyway, the coppers job was well done by the subcontracted Belgian Gendarmerie.
Back at the A-site, all the hashers were enjoying free eats provided by the Hares. After the pack was fed and watered the circle was called and the Hares Clit Face, Teeny Weeny, and Uncle Pervy invited to take a seat. Teeny Weeny and Uncle Pervy wore Halloween masks while Clit Face decided to wear his real face over his mask. General consensus among the collected masses was that it was a good run. The raffle was called and the first or second order of business was to order Mad Cow The First to sit in the bucket for being Mad Cow. The raffle went on forever it seemed but Mad Cow seemed unaffected, perhaps his primitive nervous system didn’t register the cold so far from his brain. Several hashers dressed in costume and really added to the festive spirit of the run. A costume contest was held but the men were so lame they lost out in the first round of the competition. All four ladies in costume won since it was impossible to pick the winner. Good effort girls. Karamba was iced for his Birthday. Imagine being born on Halloween, probably explains things.
Guest RA Steamy Lump took the circle and iced various nationalities, the old-timers, short and long people. I escaped by standing behind a scribe clipboard. The hares were iced again but complained someone had already sung their song and made a lame attempt at another when Chicken Fucker stepped up to help them out and serenaded them with a round of “Eat It Out”. Seaman Staines in for the Hash Hymn and off to Patrick’s for some after run grub and drinks. Yet another great day out.  Great run, costumes, free food, and good participation in the circle.
