Boring Wanker (RIP)

25 May 1970 to 14 Sep 2026
Below are the reflections of Fattus Maximus who was our appointed Scribe for the day. PH3 Run #2168
Boring Wanker's Last Run 😪
What was supposed to be a fun-filled birthday run with Pastis and French wine supplied by the birthday boy went tragically wrong. Just over a km into the run FRB Boring Wanker collapsed and a group of hash heroes did their very best to resuscitate him whilst we waited for medical assistance. The CPR went on for about 30 minutes with maybe 6 or 7 hashers taking turns. A paramedic arrived on a scooter and took over the compressions but he didn't use the defibrillator other than for timing his compression rhythm. Shortly after a team arrived with lots more gadgets and an ambulance parked not too far away. They got a compression machine on. something to get him breathing again and 3 shots of adrenaline, I think. Then he was stretchered to the waiting ambulance and off to hospital in town.
We made our way back to the A-site in sombre mood for food and drink. Heavy rain didn't dampen the spirits as we all hoped for a bright outcome for BW. The second circle was quite rightly cancelled and we got an early ride back to town. On the bus home the news came that he had passed away. RIP Richard Boring Wanker Robinson. 😪
You will be missed!
So, who was Boring Wanker? Well from what I knew of him he was neither boring nor a wanker. One of the smartest, if not the smartest, guys on the hash with a great dry sense of humour. I always enjoyed our chats together and was lucky enough to benefit from his experience in investments and financial planning. 😴😴😴. That's enough of that!
Today was BW's 110th PH3 Run. His first was run #1957 on 29/8/2022 just a week before my PH3 debut. So, I have known him about 4 years. In those 4 years he has accumulated 47 entries on his profile's circle notes. That means he did something good or bad about every other time he showed up. Nothing boring about that is there?
He only scribed once but managed 7 PH3 hares and got Wanker of the Week 5 times. He also was Wanker of the Year once and in January this year was temporarily renamed Boring Wanker of the Year in recognition of all the time he'd spent on the ice and in the bucket during 2025. If it hadn't been for BW's help I'd surely have 10 Wanker of the Week spoons by now.
BW wasn't just a PH3 guy. He's been on the committee for a long time and is currently Hash Bookie but he played a role in many other hashes too. A regular hare on the Monkey and he cooked the food for the Jungle for 2 years. Or was that Black Panther?? He would also support events outside of Pattaya and overseas too.
He returned from one trip where the GM was open to bribes in return for the hash name of your dreams. I guess some booze changed hands and he returned to Patts as BHE... Best Hasher Ever! Of course, that didn't last 5 minutes here and he got the bucket along with the Wanker of the Week spoon to cherish.
Another of his dodgy stories was about his curries which he claimed was a recipe from his Grandma. Well one week he'd call it Welsh curry, then next time it was French curry and then Japanese curry. It was going so well until someone found out it was a curry sauce he'd bought from Villa Market and it was Black Panther who was doing all the prep.
I won't dwell on our last hash together, instead I'd rather remember one of the best. It was only 2 days ago that he hared the Bangkok Bush H3 Outstation Run on the other side of KMK with Speedo Pete and Co. Wow! What a run that was!! And what a circle too. We had it at a lovely resort near Mabprachan. It was a free run but we were advised to take food and drinks. Of course, there was plenty of food for everyone and when the rain finally stopped lead hare BW took the circle. He was great and managed to get about 15 people doing bits in the circle which kept us all on our toes. He was so good that today I suggested he should be the next GM. He politely told me to f off. "That job is for you Fattus" he said. No thank you mate I replied... and those were our last words.
If this does make it onto the PH3 Facebook group please tell us your favourite BW story or moment in the comments. I have only included a few of my highlights here.
RIP my friend. You were taken from us far too young!
On Up to the Heavenly Hash for you Boring Wanker.
Please don't go the other way!!
Your hashing family have you, Black Panther and your nearest and dearest in our thoughts at this most difficult time.
Words From Richard's Family
Richard grew up with 5 siblings, all girls. He was the only boy, 4 older sisters and 1 younger than him. As you can imagine being an only boy us girls ruled him
.
At the young age of 11 he was named youngest chess player in Gwynedd beating adults. He played up and down the coastal clubs where he grew up (not sure if he told anyone on his travels). We’d see pictures of him playing chess and giggle wondering if the man he’s playing knows he’s a champ.
Richard has made us so proud in what he’s achieved in his short life. I smiled at his nickname wanker. I’ve called him that many a time when he came home and start going off on one his debates.
Yes, he had a dry sense humour (you try living with 5 sisters
). But the people who truly knew him that he met over the last 38 years when he left the UK as a young 18 year old going to teach Japanese English, and from there on established himself and achieved everything he wanted to do. Those people would know and understand his sense of humour (still dry), but a heart of gold and help anyone who needed it. He was our little brother and the news today has devastated our family - if not broken it, how do we carry on without him.
I’d like to thank you again for the memorial page and everyone of his friends for messages they have written for him, and the people who tried to help him before emergency services got to him. I’ll miss his stories about all the people he’s met, most of all his racing stories. He died doing what he loved best.
Please thank the hash from his family back in the UK for the memories they gave him so he could give us sleep tight.
Lil bro, this isn’t goodbye, it’s see you later.
In Memory of Richard “Boring Wanker” Robinson
It is with great sadness, red eyes, and shock that we learned of the sudden passing of Richard “Boring Wanker” Robinson.
Only last Saturday, 12 September 2026, Richard set a memorable Bangkok Bush Hash trail in the lush green vicinity of Pattaya. True to his character, he entertained us, made us laugh, and created unforgettable moments of happiness and friendship.
Richard will be remembered for his kindness, warmth, humour, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. His smile, caring nature, and unmistakable personality touched the lives of many. Although he may have called himself “boring,” nobody who knew him could ever agree.
It is difficult to understand such a sudden and tragic loss. However, we can take comfort in remembering the wonderful times we shared with Richard and the lasting impression he made on all of us.
Our deepest condolences go to his family, friends, and everyone mourning his loss during this incredibly difficult time.
You will be greatly missed, Richard. Your friendship, laughter, and Hash spirit will remain with us always.
Rest in peace, old friend.
