Run # 1382: It was a very comfortable day for hashing, a bit of high cloud and not too hot or humid.
A brand new “A” site which was welcome but nearly didn’t happen as the owners came down to see what was happening and I thought at one stage that we was going to get thrown off. A few kind words and a tee shirt sorted the problem and everyone was happy.
VV’s 90th hared Monday run assisted by Dirty Pussy who is becoming an accomplished hare in his own right. No new shoes to deal with so straight onto the run. It was well planned with some riverbeds, a bit of jungle and a welcome return to some mud. Believe me, hashers like running through mud, they may complain sometimes but that is their wont, mud is good. The first runner arrived after 50 minutes which was mainly due to a one kilometre false trail; he must have thought “if I’ve got to do it so have you bastards” so the check wasn’t broken and everybody did an extra two clicks, which from a non runner’s point of view is quite funny. Obviously not thigh slapping hilarious but mildly amusing all the same.
The usual socializing after the run, a bit subdued owing too some notable absentees but enjoyable all the same. Young Jackson Shook looked like he was having a good time, he has completed only two runs but that’s quite good when you are only three weeks old.
There were approximately 60 runners today and some comments were made about the lack of attendee’s, well it is the low season, we do have an economic downturn, the Malacca run took a few regulars this week and for various reasons there was a few no shows. The thing is, this hash is still very successful and there are not many hashes in the world that can pull in 60 hashers on a bad day. Nothing to worry about on that score.
The circle starts with the usual stuff, two RA’s missing today so a slightly different format. We had a few visitors, notably from the Chiang Mai hash including the GM. Who presented our GM with a tee shirt. These guys were good and joined in the fun in the circle, hope to see you back guys.
It was Flippers Birthday a few days ago and she was presented with a nice chocolate cake by Sir Chicken, the local fire brigade was on stand-by in case the candles fire got out of control.
The usual madness and mayhem from Sir Chicken in the circle with the usual icing of ¼ Pounder with cheese among others, his sin, being the scribe. Hash hymn and onto the bus for the on on bar ( or so I thought ) due to lack of interest in the après run bar, the bus took us back to the Lek hotel. The on on bar thing is something to discuss at the Wednesday meeting in Jameson’s I think.
To summarize the day, good run, good circle, good atmosphere, and the birthday cake was delicious.
On on
¼ Pounder.
